When our 10 year old German Shepherd was throwing up and not acting like herself on a Saturday evening, I knew our options for care were limited. When we found Focused Pet Care and immediately spoke to a friendly receptionist, we were told they could see us right away! Bringing our grumpy old gal into the vet is always a stressful process because she is not friendly with other dogs and can be nervous around new people. From the moment we walked in and I saw the lovingly placed Dolly Parton photo in the lobby, we felt at ease. Not only was Bella’s treatment handled efficiently and with great care, the team went to every length to ensure her comfort. Communication throughout her surgery was seamless and we were never left wondering if she was okay. We are definitely anxious dog parents and we were always kept in the loop with status updates and all of our questions were answered thoughtfully. I cannot say enough about the treatment from Dr. Mizesko and Dr. Fraser. While I know they likely have a very busy case load helping the many critters of the Jax/Orange Park area stay healthy, they always made an extra moment to make sure we understood exactly what was going on while we were away from our girl, including checking up on her routinely after her discharge. They really care and it shows! Lastly I want to note that it can be so stressful going to an emergency vet because you expect ballooned pricing. All of the costs and options were explained to us well in advance, we were given really helpful advice for how to proceed and the team was extremely fair in pricing for the magnitude of the procedure. In a nutshell, if you’re an anxious pet parent worrying about choosing the right place to take your pet when you need to get in right away, look no further. Cannot recommend them more highly. While I hope we have no more emergencies in the future, I would go back to FPC without hesitation.

Absolutely amazing service and staff. It’s great to know that when we have an emergency pop up, that we have somewhere so close that cares. Ended up here about a week ago with one of our pups who was showing some major concerning symptoms. After an extensive exam, we found out that he needed emergency surgery. Dr was kind and understanding, he explained everything my pup was going through and what it would take to fix him up. He laid it all out, the good and bad, and helped me through questions as I decided the best course of action. They kept me updated through surgery and recovery and have even called after to check on him. Forever grateful!!

I don’t do reviews often but I couldn’t not do one after the amazing care we received. Dr.Levasser saved my baby’s life. My cat got attacked by another animal and had to have his leg amputated, while we where going to take him to his regular vet when they opened but it ended up not being an option for us and Dr LaVasser was quick to make my baby comfortable and get the surgery done and save his life and without breaking the bank after other places quoted us a ridiculous amount for his operation. I truly can not thank him enough for keeping our family whole right before Christmas. I will never go any where else for an emergency visit. The whole staff was amazing at giving him care he needed and even after reaching out to check up on him and answering the millions of questions I had. Thank yall so much for the passion and dedication yall showed to help our boy out !

They took great care of my puppy. He decided that 1/2 inch staples that were on the counter looked like a tasty snack. I called and they were prepared for him ahead of time. There was a little bit of wait for the Dr to take the x rays, but they had other emergencies going on. After consideration and seeing he swallowed more than 50 staples, the next morning we made the decision to proceed with surgery since the staples didn't move out of his stomach all night. He is recovering very well.

Even though they were incredibly busy they still gave my cat the best care possible and took time to explain treatment completely. Don't let his grumpy old man face fool you, they were gentle and compassionate with him. They even checked on him the next day to see if there was any improvement and recommended next steps to get him feeling better. Our rescue puppy was diagnosed with parvovirus, and from the very beginning the entire team was incredible. They immediately gave us two options for care and thoroughly explained the process for both. Even though we chose the more affordable plan, they still aggressively and compassionately fought this terrible virus. Throughout this terrifying week, they were extremely kind, communicative, and supportive. They worked with our financial situation and offered us several options to explore so we could continue his care. Even if our story had not ended in a positive way, I would still wholeheartedly recommend this clinic for their honesty, compassion, and dedication. I brought my baby into Focused the night he was attacked by another dog. It was one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. Everyone at Focused was so compassionate, kind, and knowledgeable. I called ahead when we were on our way there, and they were ready and waiting for us. They met us out in the parking lot and started attending to my dog immediately, before we even made it inside. Now a month later, my boy is healing exceptionally well. I’m incredibly grateful for the wonderful care he received from the team at Focused, especially Dr. LaVasser and Dr. Fraser. I have had the need to use the Emergency Services at Focused several times now. My 11 year old dog has experienced hives with sudden onset for due to an unknown allergic reaction. Dr Corlett treated her today. I appreciate how quickly they are able to assess, plan and treat my babies. My Josie has been treated like a Queen while there. The front office staff are exceptional when I call in (yet again) near panicking. They are the calming voice to the nervous pet owners.

I brought my 12 year old cat to the ER on Saturday. When I brought him he could barely walk, was falling over and in so much discomfort and pain. I’m so grateful for the care we received. All of the staff was incredibly kind. Dr. LaVasser was amazing, he really listened to all my concerns, was patient, understanding, and took the time to explain everything. The best part is that the treatment worked exactly how he said it would. By the next day, my cat showed significant improvement, and by the second day he was doing even better. Took my baby boy Bruno here for an emergency visit after he cut his paw pad open really bad on a fence. They were the only place open for emergency visits at the time (7AM) which was awesome as he was bleeding really bad. The wait wasn’t bad and they made me feel calm and comfortable as they were explaining everything to me. They’re very personable and sat down explaining the cost of everything as well instead of just surprising you with the bill. The themed bandage for Halloween was an added plus. Very patient and awesome at explaining medication and surgery process as well
